Everton managed to get a loan deal over the line for Donny Van de Beek on Deadline Day, as the out of favour Manchester United star seeks first-team football elsewhere.

The temporary move doesn’t just benefit the midfielder’s future, but could be a crucial signing for the Toffees this season in their challenge to climb back into a safe position in the Premier League under new manager, Frank Lampard.

The 24-year-old has not been able to make his mark in the Premier League yet, with just five starts over his first 18 months at the Manchester club, but will be hoping that he can make an impact on the Everton side, especially with Abdoulaye Doucoure out for at least a month with an injury he picked up against Aston Villa, which saw him forced off the pitch in the 65th minute.

This has given Van de Beek, who was hailed “perfect” by Owen Hargreaves, the ideal opportunity and elevates his chances of making an instant appearance in the starting line up when the Toffees return to action this weekend in the FA Cup against Brentford.

New Everton boss, Lampard, has already been praised by the £35m midfielder in his first interview since joining the side yesterday;

“I had a really positive meeting with the new coach. We have the same ideas about football and he had a lot of influence on my decision,” Van de Beek explained.

“I played against him when I was at Ajax, and he was at Chelsea (as the manager), so he knows me as a player. He thinks I have qualities that can help the team.

“I can learn a lot from him because he was a little bit in the same position – a midfield player who scored a lot of goals.”

Van de Beek is not unproven in his potential and his talents, when you look at his career before he joined Manchester United, his record under Erik ten Hag at Ajax is absolutely phenomenal with 41 goals and 34 assists in 175 appearances from his midfield position, an output Lampard will be hoping that he can inspire the Dutchman to reignite at Everton.

The Chelsea legend now has the opportunity to further prove his worth as a manager in the Premier League by getting the very best out of the current crop of players that Rafa Benitez failed to have a positive impact on, and implementing the new signings into the side to improve the trajectory that Everton has been on so far this season by taking the club out of a potential relegation battle.

Should he immediately get more from van de Beek then he will surely become an instant hit at Goodison.

Maior campeão da história da Copa do Nordeste, com cinco títulos, o Vitória inicia sua trajetória na Copa do Nordeste 2018 nesta terça-feira, diante do Globo-RN, às 22h45 (horário de Brasília), no Barretão, em Ceará-Mirim. A expectativa é grande em busca de mais uma taça. Até o momento, o clube fez contratações pontuais para reforçar o elenco.

Foram quatro novos jogadores contratados: os laterais Lucas e Bryan, o meio-campista Lucas Marques e o atacante Denílson. Todos atuaram na Série A em 2017.

Lateral-direito, Lucas esteve no Fluminense em 2017. Experiente, ele conquistou a Copa do Brasil em 2015, pelo Palmeiras. Bryan é lateral-esquerdo, e fez parte do elenco do Cruzeiro campeão da Copa do Brasil no ano passado.

Já Lucas Marques e Denílson estavam na Chapecoense e São Paulo, respectivamente. Aos 22 anos, ambos esperam se firmar no Vitória. O atacante, inclusive, deixou os torcedores animados ao fazer os dois gols rubro-negros no primeiro jogo-treino da temporada: triunfo por 2 a 1 sobre o Atlântico.

Com a manutenção de Vágner Mancini – treinador que possui maior número de jogos pelo clube – e a espinha dorsal do time, o entrosamento deve ser a arma do Leão nas primeiras partidas da temporada. Nove dos 11 jogadores que deverão iniciar o jogo de estreia são remanescentes de 2017, entre eles Santiago Tréllez, estrangeiro com maior número de gols no Brasileirão do ano passado: dez tentos.

Com grande campanha na Copa São Paulo 2018, o Leão tem um dos destaques do torneio: o atacante Luan, de apenas 18 anos. Com cinco gols marcados, ele é um dos artilheiros da Copinha e é cotado para subir para os profissionais. O Rubro-Negro está nas oitavas de final de final e busca o título inédito.

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the Gers are on the verge of completing a swoop to land a major deadline day signing.

He Tweeted: “Rangers are set to sign Aaron Ramsey on loan from Juventus, deal finally in place. Final details to be completed on player side with his agent but it’s almost done. #Rangers Buy option for Rangers will be included, as reported earlier.”

Champions League football incoming

The signing of Ramsey is a huge move for Rangers and he could come in and provide the level of quality they need to pip their arch-rivals Celtic to the Premiership title.

Winning the league this season guarantees entry into the group stages of the Champions League next season, rather than needing to go through the qualifying rounds and potentially ending up in the Europa League. This means that clinching the trophy this term would result in a major payday of at least £30m from playing in Europe’s premier competition.

Ramsey is an experienced, proven, player at the top level of football who could make a major impact for Gio van Bronckhorst in the second half of the campaign.

He has produced six goals and six assists in 70 games for Juventus, having managed an impressive 65 goals and 65 assists in 371 matches for Arsenal earlier in his career, whilst also scoring 20 in 71 caps for Wales.

This shows that he has the ability, and consistency, to be a big threat at the top end of the pitch with his late runs from midfield to get on the end of chances whilst also creating them for his teammates. He also has plenty of experience playing in the Europa League and Champions League, which could give the side a lift when they return to European action later this season.

Domestically, though, his goals and assists could help the Gers to get over the line and secure the Premiership title, as he has been able to provide quality throughout his career. This means that his arrival could seal the trophy and a whopping £30m (at least) payday for Ross Wilson and the club to work with heading into the 2022/23 campaign, which is why this could be a phenomenal signing.

With PIF having taken over the reins at Newcastle United, fans of the Tyneside club can look to a far more promising future than they once did.

Eddie Howe’s recent appointment and work in the transfer window has turned the tides at St James’ Park, with the recent 3-1 victory over Everton in mid-week a clear indication of the kind of improvements the Magpies have made.

But while the Magpies are moving forward in the right direction, one man who remains a prime example of some of the failures of the previous regime, is Miguel Almiron.

Having signed him from MLS side Atlanta United in the January transfer window of 2019 for a then club-record fee of £20m, it’s fair to say things haven’t quite worked out for the attacking midfielder.

The Paraguay international has endured another difficult Premier League season thus far, scoring no goals and providing no assists whatsoever in the 19 games that he has played in all competitions.

The £75k-a-week earning ace’s appalling total record of just 13 goals and five assists in 110 games for Newcastle, is simply not good enough, especially in this new PIF-led era at St James’ Park.

Indeed, with his transfer fee and wages combined, he’s cost the Tyneside club an incredible £32m in the 158 weeks that he’s been at St James’ Park.

The Magpies will no doubt be embarking on a massive spending spree in the upcoming transfer windows, and getting rid of the deadwood and under-performing players will surely be on the agenda too.

PIF must make a ruthless call and get rid at the earliest possible opportunity. If the club are serious about taking that next step and moving forwards, then axing below-par players like Almiron is the logical decision to make, and ensure they aren’t being held back.

At the moment, Almiron just continues to be a drain on Newcastle’s wage bill and hasn’t shown anything like the kind of form that would suggest he should be a part of the club’s long-term future.

Meanwhile, Newcastle must finally sell this star…
