Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tanguy Ndombele has responded to a question via his Instagram story on Wednesday night asking if he prefers Barcelona or Paris Saint-German.

The question presumably came after Spurs’ club-record buy was linked with a move to both of the European giants in recent weeks, following a tough debut campaign in north London after his summer move from Lyon.

The 23-year-old’s response of “continue à mentir” is an interesting one, as it roughly translates to ‘they keep lying’.

Perhaps that is him blasting the media who are linking him with these clubs and a potential exit from Tottenham just 12 months after he joined them.

To be fair, it wouldn’t be a complete surprise if his future under Jose Mourinho was potentially in doubt after he was publicly criticised by the Portuguese manager following his performance in the draw against Burnley at Turf Moor last month.

The same report linking him with PSG has suggested that Mourinho and Spurs chairman Daniel Levy disagree over the Frenchman’s future, with the latter believing he can still make his mark in a white shirt.

It will be interesting to see what happens during the next transfer window.

Crystal Palace fans have taken to Twitter to react following comments from Italian footballing agent Federico Pastorello on Sky Sports about Wilfried Zaha’s chances of a transfer in January.

Pastorello – who The Daily Mail claim to be Zaha’s agent – revealed that his client is a “top player” and deserves a fresh challenge at a new club.

Of course, the Ivory Coast international handed in a transfer request back in the summer after seeing a number of bids from both Arsenal and Everton rejected by Eagles chief Steve Parish, but the forward has got his head down and carried on performing for his side – Zaha has two goals and an assist so far in the Premier League this season.

Chelsea are believed to be interested in a January move for the former Manchester United winger after seeing their transfer ban reduced.

However, it seems like some Palace fans on Twitter have reacted badly to Pastorello’s comments.

One supporter complained that the big clubs don’t deserve Zaha, having overlooked him for so long and opting for foreign imports such as Nicolas Pepe.

These two fans below also showcased some annoyance at the comments, with one stating that Pastorello is a “mug”.

The other supporter said that it is “actually embarrassing” how much Sky Sports are trying to generate transfer news regarding Zaha before the window has even opened.

A third Palace fan below that aforementioned supporter also echoed the same sentiment, stating that there is now another opportunity for Sky to try and sell the club’s players.

Towards the end of the tweets, there are some harsher words for Pastorello other than him being called a mug.

This supporter below went one up on that, calling Zaha’s agent a “parasite” whereas – as you can see – another fan said that Sky are “absolutely obsessed” with the Palace academy graduate, stating that it is an “embarrassing agenda”.

Tottenham Hotspur appear to be coming to the end of a cycle.

Mauricio Pochettino saw his side draw 1-1 with Sheffield United on Saturday and they are left with 14 points in 12th-place.

That’s 12 behind Chelsea and Leicester City, who beat Crystal Palace and Arsenal respectively on the same day.

Spurs’ performance was poor.

Son Heung-Min scored their goal after a major defensive mix-up and, while they had over 60% of possession, per WhoScored, they only had one more shot on target than Chris Wilder’s impressive Blades.

Where Sheffield United were well-organised, well-drilled and disciplined throughout, Spurs appeared lackadaisical and ponderous on the ball. Harry Kane, at the tip of the spear, had just two shots on goal throughout.

That speaks to a lack of chances created and an inability to properly support the England international.

But this is not the first time this has happened.

Spurs last won in the Premier League in September, when they beat Southampton 2-1. Since then, in domestic competition, they have been thumped 3-0 by Brighton & Hove Albion, drawn with Watford, lost to Liverpool and drawn with Everton, thanks to a 97th-minute Cenk Tosun header.

In five games, they have taken three points. It must be said, as well, that they have not won away in the league since January.

Since beating Fulham 2-1 at Craven Cottage, in 12 games, with 36 points available, they have taken just three – in draws with Manchester City, Arsenal and Everton. At home, they have taken 31 points from a possible 45 in 15 games. Their only defeats since January have come against West Ham United and Newcastle United.

This is not sustainable, this double standard. As it stands, Spurs are averaging 1.1 points per game. If this run continues, they will finish the season with 44 points. That would have seen them finish 15th last season, joint-11th in 17/18 and joint-12th in 16/17.

The message here is clear: Spurs are playing like a mid-table club, desperately scratching for points wherever they can find them.

Pochettino, of course, oversaw a near miracle last season as Spurs reached the Champions League final but, for quite a while now, the league form has been dipping.

Already, it appears a massive task for Spurs to be able to reach the top four. Leicester, Liverpool and Manchester City all look well set and then there are a few teams fighting for fourth.

One has to ask the question: Are Spurs even in that question anymore?

It remains to be seen how much damage missing out on qualification would have on the club and on the squad next season.

First of all, though, the responsibility ultimately falls on Pochettino, the man who picks the team and makes the decisions.

If Spurs go another month in this form and continue to fall further away from those at the top, a change may have to be made.

Many Everton supporters have been reacting on social media to reports from Tuttosport (via Sport Witness) suggesting that Djibril Sidibe could leave Goodison Park in January and that AC Milan are a potential landing spot for the right-back.

Sidibe only joined Everton in the summer with the Blues taking the 2018 World Cup winner on a one-season deal from AS Monaco, which also carries a €14million (£12.2m) option-to-buy, via L’Equipe, on top of the €2.5m (£2.1m) spent on his loan fee.

The 27-year-old has only managed to record three outings under Marco Silva, though, as the Portuguese continues to favour Seamus Coleman in the Premier League, where Sidibe has featured for just 31 minutes.

His lack of game time has been replicated on the international stage, as well, with France boss Didier Deschamps only naming Sidibe on the bench against Iceland.

Tuttosport have now suggested that Everton have not been impressed by what they have seen from the defender thus far.

A sooner-than-expected exit may, therefore, be on the cards for the 18-cap right-back, who has been earmarked as a potential target of AC Milan, as the Rossoneri are keen to bolster their options in that position.

Everton not playing Sidibe is said to be offering hope to the Italian side that a transfer could be possible in January, although many Toffees supporters would prefer that not to be the case.

While reacting to Tuttosport’s claims, lots of Blues fans have shared that they would like to see more of Sidibe before he potentially leaves Merseyside in 2020, while others were completely against the idea.

Sidibe has started both of Everton’s Carabao Cup fixtures to date this season and assisted Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s opening goal of the night away to Sheffield Wednesday last month.

As told in a recent report from Blick, Everton are keeping tabs on AC Milan defender Ricardo Rodriguez. In the summer, Leighton Baines is out of contract, whilst Lucas Digne was subject to transfer speculation this recent window. Such situations may force Marco Silva’s hand in the market, especially considering the lack of cover in his defence.

What was reported?

Rodriguez has been in Italy for two seasons, where he has been a regular for the Italian giants. However, he has only played four times so far this term, losing his place to 22-year-old Theo Hernandez in recent weeks.

Considering his age, Hernandez is perhaps the future of the left-back spot at the San Siro, which may force Rodriguez to move elsewhere for his own career. The reports do indeed suggest that the 27-year-old’s days are numbered in Milan, with the Frenchman seen as the main number 3, but Blick have not specified a specific reason why the Toffees are so interested in the former Wolfsburg man.

Silva needs all the cover he can get

Everton have conceded 13 goals in just eight games so far this season, and sit in the drop zone early on in this Premier League campaign. As a result of such defensive woes, Silva should be keen to bring in as much cover as he can within these positions, especially considering the versatility and experience of Rodriguez.

He’s predominantly a left-back, but as WhoScored demonstrates, Rodriguez has been used as a centre-back in Milan too and has even provided cover in the left-midfield spot.

In the centre-back slots, Michael Keane and Yerry Mina have played every minute of Premier League action so far. However, should one of them get injured, there is little backup for Silva to ponder, with Mason Holgate the only other out-and-out centre-back in the squad this season.

This term, Rodriguez has averaged 1.5 tackles per game in Serie A and made 2.8 clearances from the back. This also comes after making 1.4 tackles each game for Switzerland in the Nations League – a time where he averaged a 6.99 rating on WhoScored. The Milan man has also made 1.3 interceptions per fixture in Italy this season, to clearly shown his defensive capabilities.

Those could be vital to help Silva sort out a defence that is shipping far too many goals at the moment.

The top two tiers in English football, the Premier League and the Championship, now embark on their first international break of the 2019/20 season.

Many clubs, particularly in the top-flight, will lose access to their players for at least the next week as they will link up with their respective national teams.

For others, it’s a chance to rest, but that’s not the case for West Brom’s £4m man Charlie Austin.

And no, the 6 foot 2 striker hasn’t earned his first-ever England call-up.

He is using this period to ramp up his fitness so he can cement his name amongst Slaven Bilic’s starting XI.

The 30-year-old didn’t have much of a pre-season after his former Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl practically froze him out of the squad entirely by not naming him for their tours of Austria and Ireland.

Austin put up this tweet on Monday, which has left several supporters at the Hawthorns touting him for big things this season.

One member of the Baggies faithful joked that he would get the beers in at Cheltenham festival if the striker scores 15 goals by then.

Whilst another added that he would be the key to this season and that it was great to see his commitment to the club.

The formidable forward has a more than respectable goal tally in this league alone, scoring 68 times in 134 appearances for both QPR and Burnley, per Transfermarkt.

A further West Brom supporter spoke on behalf of the entire fanbase to say that everyone was rooting for him. Austin has struggled this term and is yet to score a league goal.

Including international football, Edouard is on ten goals and five assists in just thirteen games this season, scoring goals in every competition he has played in. Crucially, he scored the all-important opening goal in the first encounter of the season against city rivals Rangers before the international break.
