Nottingham Forest really want title-winning manager amid good Marinakis relationship

Nottingham Forest manager Ange Postecoglou is under mounting pressure as the Tricky Trees consider potential replacements for him just 29 days into the Australian’s tenure, and ruthless owner Evangelos Marinakis has his eyes on a few interesting options.

Nottingham Forest doing due-diligence on new managers after poor Postecoglou start

As is the norm when managers are facing an uncertain future, Forest are believed to be doing their due-diligence on possible replacements for Postecoglou if they do decide to pull the plug.

The former Tottenham boss, who helped to end Spurs’ 17-year wait for a major trophy in May, could be shown his P45 once again at Forest – just under a month after Marinakis appointed the tactician to replace fan favourite Nuno Espírito Santo.

Marinakis personally opted to hire Postecoglou for his attacking style, in a deviation from Nuno’s pragmatic, counter-attacking approach, and is still privately desperate for it to work out (Ben Jacobs).

However, other reports claim that the Greek billionaire is privately furious with Forest’s state of affairs on the pitch right now, with TEAMtalk stating that Postecoglou is “on the verge” of being sacked by Forest after a barren first seven games in charge.

If Postecoglou is let go in the next 12 days, he will become the shortest-reigning Premier League boss in the competition’s history – breaking Les Reed’s record – who was sacked by Charlton Athletic after just 41 days in 2006.

In terms of who could succeed the 60-year-old, a few intriguing names have been linked already, none more so than Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner.

Glasner, who just watched his side’s impressive 19-game unbeaten run come to an end thanks to Jack Grealish’s added-time winner for Everton, would undoubtedly be the best candidate.

The Austrian guided Palace to their first ever major trophy earlier this year, defeating Man City 1-0 in the FA Cup final at Wembley, and this booked them a spot in the Europa League — only for Forest to take the Eagles’ place due to a UEFA ruling.

His Selhurst Park contract is due to expire at the end of this season with no signs of a renewal so far, potentially opening the door for Marinakis, with Glasner emerging as a prime candidate to replace Postecoglou at Forest.

Fulham managerMarcoSilvabefore the match

Fulham’s Marco Silva is in an identical contract situation, and the Portuguese doesn’t seem too content in West London, having publicly swiped at the club’s lack of transfer activity.

Nottingham Forest really want Marco Silva amid good Marinakis relationship

Silva, who guided Olympiacos to a Greek Super League title in 2016, worked with Marinakis during his time there and the duo still have a good relationship now.

That is according to talkSPORT, who report that Silva is very high on Forest’s wanted list if they decide to push Postecoglou out of the door.

The 48-year-old guided Fulham to a Championship title and subsequent promotion to the Premier League, keeping them there ever since, and the Whites briefly contended for Europe last season only to fall short at the last hurdle.

Silva achieved this despite working with very limited resources, and he appears to be keen on remaining in England after rejecting “several lucrative offers” from Saudi Arabia.

The tactician has also earned praise from elite peers, like Pep Guardiola, who praised his work at Fulham back in 2024.

"World-class" FA Cup-winning manager now shock Nottingham Forest candidate

A “world-class” manager has now emerged as a shock candidate to replace Ange Postecoglou as Nottingham Forest manager, following the Australian’s dismissal on Saturday.

Forest set out to appoint new manager following Ange exit

Ange only lasted a little over a month as Forest manager, which has sparked debate over whether he was given enough time, having replaced Nuno Espirito Santo at the beginning of September, before going on to implement a more attacking style.

Former defender John Curtis has since claimed it was the wrong decision to appoint the former Tottenham Hotspur boss in the first place, with Nuno enjoying a successful 2024-25 campaign, overseeing the Tricky Trees’ return to Europe.

With Ange gone, Evangelos Marinakis is now tasked with bringing in a replacement, and it could make sense to bring in a more pragmatic manager, given that the attacking philosophy didn’t produce the desired results.

The Aussie failed to win any of his eight matches in charge, which leaves the Europa League side in a precarious position, falling into the Premier League relegation zone after the 3-0 defeat at home against Chelsea on Saturday.

As such, getting the next appointment will be crucial for Marinakis, and it has now been revealed that Sean Dyche, who has a track record of guiding teams to safety, is in advanced talks about taking over as manager.

According to a report from Football Insider, however, there is an alternative option on the shortlist, with Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers emerging as a ‘shock’ new candidate for the Nottingham Forest job.

Rodgers is set to be sounded out by Forest about a move to the City Ground, with the Celtic boss out of contract at the end of the season, and the Scottish club have thus far failed to make any progress in talks about an extension.

Dyche remains the frontrunner for the job, but former Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini and Fulham manager Marco Silva are also in contention.

Nottingham Forest chiefs want Marinakis to replace Postecoglou with "master" tactician

The Greek billionaire has finally called time on Ange’s nightmare stint.

ByEmilio Galantini Oct 18, 2025 "World-class" Rodgers could be savvy appointment for Forest

The 52-year-old is vastly experienced in the Premier League, taking charge of 204 matches as Leicester City manager, during which time he led the Foxes to victory in the 2020-21 FA Cup final, with Gabriel Agbonlahor lauding him as “world-class”.

The Northern Irishman, who won the FA Cup with Leicester, has since gone on to have another very impressive stint with Celtic, winning the Scottish Premiership and League Cup last season, meaning he has now lifted 13 trophies across a successful managerial career.

Dyche would perhaps be the safer option, having developed a reputation as a manager capable of leading relegation-threatened sides to safety, but Rodgers could be a more exciting long-term appointment, given his track record of winning trophies.

Livvy Dunne Was Every Pirates Fan Cheering on Paul Skenes in Final Start of Season

Baseball games can be nerve-wracking to watch, especially if they're coming down to the wire—and if the superstar ace of one of the teams happens to be your boyfriend.

Livvy Dunne was spotted in a suite cheering on Paul Skenes in his final start of the 2025 season during the Pirates' 4-3 win over the Reds Wednesday night, and she looked like she was going through it. Like any other Pirates fan, Dunne was getting some jitters watching Skenes pitch:

But ultimately, Dunne had a front row seat to another of Skenes's masterful outings on the mound, which included the Pirates star striking out Spencer Steer in the sixth inning. That marked his 211th strikeout of the season, setting a new Pirates franchise record for a right-handed pitcher (Skenes surpassed Mitch Keller's record of 210 that Keller set in 2023).

Look at what it meant to Dunne:

In the end, Skenes capped off his dominant second MLB season by allowing four hits and seven strikeouts across six innings against the Reds, lowering his ERA to 1.97. He's the first qualified pitcher with an ERA under 2.00 in his age-23 or younger season since Dwight Gooden in 1985, per MLB.com's Sarah Langs. Wednesday also marked Skenes's 14th game allowing no earned runs and 12th scoreless outing this year.

Dunne perhaps said it best in a simple tweet congratulating her boyfriend after the game: "Best szn I did ever see."

Vinnie Pasquantino Reveals Huge Leg Bruise After Striking Out on Pitch That Hit Him

Kansas City Royals first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino had an at-bat to forget during Wednesday's game against the Boston Red Sox.

During the first inning up against new Red Sox pitcher Dustin May, Pasquantino was sat down on strikes after swinging through a devastating sweeper. It was a nasty pitch, and it broke so much that despite Pasquantino swinging and missing, the ball ended up running all the way inside and hitting him square on the thigh.

It looked for a moment as if Pasquantino fouled the ball off, but in reality it just bounced straight off his thigh and he was ruled out on strikes.

On Thursday, the Royals first baseman posted the aftermath of his embarrassing strikeout on social media, revealing a massive bruise on his thigh while having a laugh at his own expense.

All in all, not a moment Pasquantino will look back too fondly on, though the welt on his leg will certainly serve as a frequent and painful reminder of it throughout the next few days.

Tottenham looking to offload Spurs regular in January, Frank doesn't want him

Tottenham are looking to sell a Spurs regular who Thomas Frank no longer wants with the January transfer window looming, according to a new report today.

Tottenham's rumoured plans for the January transfer window

If there’s one thing the last month has taught us, it is that the Lilywhites are still far from the finished article.

Tepid London derby defeats to Arsenal and Chelsea in the last few weeks, where Spurs barely managed to threaten in either encounter, significantly highlight the need for more firepower in particular.

Striker Dominic Solanke remains out with an ankle injury that required minor surgery, while star playmakers James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski are still working to come back from their respective long-term problems.

This has left Spurs starved of attacking quality at times, with summer signing Xavi Simons largely failing to impress bar a player of the match display at home to FC Copenhagen in the Champions League.

A silver lining for the north Londoners was Randal Kolo Muani’s exceptional outing against parent club PSG in Europe on Wednesday, where the Frenchman bagged a brace and an assist during the thrilling eight-goal thriller in Paris.

However, amid Solanke’s injury problems and the uncertainty surrounding Kolo Muani’s long-term future, considering he is only on a dry loan, reports suggest that Tottenham could look to sign a striker in January.

Co-sporting directors Fabio Paratici and Johan Lange are also targeting a winger, with Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo on their radar.

Semenyo, who has stood out as one of the Premier League’s finest attacking players this season, could leave for just £65 million during the early stages of January due to a release clause in his contract.

Ex-club chief now tips Tottenham to sign Man City star for £50m in January

A deal is apparently there to be done.

ByEmilio Galantini Nov 28, 2025

Some media sources claim that Tottenham are prepared to shatter their winter transfer record by signing both Semenyo and FC Porto striker Samu Aghehowa, with the latter in excellent goalscoring form right now.

To fund such a big investment, player sales may be needed, and one man believed to be on the chopping block is striker Richarlison.

Tottenham looking to offload Richarlison in January

According to recent reports, despite selecting him 20 times this season, whether that be in the starting eleven or from the bench, Frank views Richarlison as ‘expendable’ heading into 2026.

Now, journalist Pete O’Rourke has told Football Insider that Tottenham are looking to sell Richarlison in January.

Amid concerns surrounding inconsistent form and the fact his contract expires in 2027, it is clear to see why.

The Brazil international has actually scored six goals and bagged a further two assists this term, including two stunning goal of the season contenders against Burnley and Arsenal respectively.

However, Richarlison has still come under criticism this season, and January represents an opportunity to offload for a significant fee before it is too late.

The 28-year-old cost £60 million to sign from Everton, and reports suggest that Richarlison could return to Goodison Park as one mooted destination.

Padres' Mason Miller Posts Remarkable Immaculate Inning Using Just One Pitch

San Diego Padres reliever Mason Miller achieved one of the rarest feats in baseball on Wednesday, as the flamethrowing 27-year-old recorded the 119th immaculate inning in league history.

Even more impressive, Miller did it all using the same pitch; his devastating slider, and didn't have a single Orioles hitter make contact, even a foul ball, with any of his nine sliders in the inning.

Miller benefitted from a called strike on the very first pitch of the inning, and he followed up by throwing eight devastating sliders in a row, attacking various parts of the plate.

There have been more than twice as many no-hitters as immaculate innings in MLB history, some evidence as to just how rare the feat is. Even more rare is an immaculate inning in which every pitch is a slider and there wasn't a single foul ball, making Miller's accomplishment even more impressive.

Miller has been fantastic since joining the Padres at the trade deadline in a deal with the Athletics. He's logged a 1.64 ERA with 19 strikeouts and five walks in 11 innings.

Cal Raleigh Becomes Seventh Player in MLB History to Hit 60 Home Runs in a Season

Mariners star Cal Raleigh may have all but locked up the American League MVP award on Wednesday night when he blasted his 60th home run of the season, becoming the seventh player in MLB history to hit 60 home runs or more in one campaign.

With four games to play, Raleigh sits just two home runs away from tying the American League record set by Aaron Judge in 2022, and three away from breaking it. Ironically, Judge and Raleigh are neck-and-neck in the AL MVP race.

Only Roger Maris, Judge, Sammy Sosa, Mark McGwire and Barry Bonds have hit more home runs in a single season than Raleigh. Raleigh's 60th home run tied Babe Ruth's mark set in 1927.

The Mariners went on to beat the Rockies on Wednesday night to move to 89-69 on the season. There's no doubt there's more to come from Raleigh in what remains of the regular season, and into what should be a raucous postseason atmosphere at T-Mobile Park.
